Species Information

General:
Perennial herb from slender rhizomes and stolons; stems erect, solitary, simple from the nodes of the rhizomes, 6-12 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves linear-oblanceolate, 1-3 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, not sheathing; stem leaves 2-3, linear or narrowly spoon-shaped, alternate, 1-3 cm long, 1-3 mm wide.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of terminal, round-topped clusters with 2-6 flowers on stalks 5-25 mm long, erect in flower but nodding in bud; floral bract solitary at the base of the lowest stalk; petals 5, white with pink veins, 10-12 mm long; sepals 2, 3.5-6 mm long; stamens 5.
Fruits:
Capsules 3-valved; seeds black.

Habitat and Range

Moist meadows in the subalpine and alpine zones; rare in NW BC, known only from the Haines Rd.; N to E AK and SW YT.
